A series of paintings inspired by Seamus Heaney.

Blackberry Picking

Blackberry-Picking by Seamus Heaney is a poem that contrasts childhood with adulthood and explores the disappointments and the tension that ensue. In two short stanzas the reader is taken into the exciting, idealistic world of the blackberry picker, and the harsh reality of time as perceived by the hardened adult.

This is an oil painting of blackberries exploring the rich colours of blackberries in nature and recalling the poetry of Seamus Heaney.

It is available now in the Horner Gallery.

Memories of Seamus Heaney.

This is a special one-off painting just in time for Mother's Day. The composition is based on the Peeling Potatoes scene from Seamus Heaney's collection of sonnets where he reflects on his special relationship with his Mother.
